Community Legal Education

Community Legal Education (CLE) is inclusive of a wide-range of activities designed to educate people about their legal rights and responsibilities to prevent legal disputes and empower people in their pursuit of justice.

The Women's Law Centre provides community legal education and training to both professional and community groups inclusive (although not limited to) the following mediums:

  • Legal information sheets
  • Workshops about our service and what we can offer
  • Workshops about specific legal issues/areas of the law
  • Provision of information to student bodies
  • Tailored workshops on specific legal issues

Some of our past CLE includes topics such as:

  • Violence Restraining Orders
  • Domestic Violence and Criminal Law
  • Domestic Violence and Housing (VROs and Family Law)
  • Your rights with the Department of Child Protection
  • Working with Victims of DV and Sexual Assault (professional development for lawyers)
  • Domestic Violence Awareness Training
  • VRO Forensic Advocacy for DV Specialist Lawyers

We are a QA provider under the LPBWA and can offer Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training for solicitors. We can also design tailored workshops for your community or professional group.
